Moving to Korea When You're Insecure About Your Body

My first experience with Korea was the summer of 2012. I was a junior in college and regardless of the fact that I was a very healthy weight, I was painfully obsessed with my body’s shape and size.

Being insecure about your body causes you to do things that only others suffering the same self hate could understand. Looking at every pair of thighs on the street comparing their size to mine, not even bothering to browse the sleeveless section in stores because I know I’d never show my fat upper arms, and the like.

3 Days in Copenhagen, Denmark, My New Favorite City

After 36 hours in Oslo, Olivia and I boarded a DFDS Seaways ferry to Copenhagen. The 17 hours ride was not one I will ever repeat, though none of it was the fault of DFDS, just my paranoia.

The ferry was a full-blown cruise ship with duty free mall, rooftop bar, spa and pool, and even a cafe where Olivia and I met the first of a long line of hilarious Danish people.

A Solo Weekend in Daegu, South Korea

I've been to Daegu once before with my boyfriend and we fell in love with it. My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to visit Cheolsu's Pottery Workshop in Itaewon thanks to One More Trip, Seoul Tourism's official site for cultural experiences.

Our Weekend in Gyeongju, Korea | March 2018

Whenever there is a long weekend here in Korea, I try to explore a new city. On one three-day weekend in March, though, my boyfriend and I decided to spend time in a city I had already been to, albeit 5 years ago. Gyeongju was actually the first city I ever visited outside of Seoul back when I was studying abroad here. I was just following my friend's lead since they could speak Korean much better than I could, but this time I was excited to plan my own trip!

A Summer Day Trip from Seoul to Ganghwa Island

You might have already figured this out by now, but I love getting out of Seoul for the weekend. This past Saturday I woke up around 7am to head to the north western corner of South Korea, to an island called Ganghwa.  It took about 2 hours to get to the island and then another hour and a half to get to my first destination, but staring out the window looking out on the green farmland and blue hills in the distance made the time fly by.
